About

Mission

With Isaiah 61:1 as our guide, Lavell’s Place will bring hope to the hopeless, restore the brokenhearted, and launch world-changers to bring light to a dark world.

Vision

Lavell’s Place will champion the healing of trauma among God’s people, hosting regular trauma healing groups, providing respite to those in the trenches of trauma healing, and equipping others to do this work in their home communities.

Origin

Lavell’s Place started in 2021 to answer a clear calling of the Lord. Our founders felt prompted to bind up the brokenhearted in the Brazos Valley, and Lavell’s Place was born to do just that.

Our name, “Lavell’s Place,” was chosen to honor Lavell Ford, the mother of founding member Tammy Martine. Lavell’s story is the origin Lavell dedicated many years of her life to fostering children born into difficult circumstances, and this mission bore out a further calling to provide respite to women trapped in abuse or afflicted by trauma. While Lavell has since retired from her role as a foster mother and care provider, her legacy continues on in Lavell’s Place.
